Sunday Reset: The intersection of self care and productivity
My Sunday reset routine has become one of my favorite things to anticipate during the week. I spend Monday through Friday working my 9-5 and my 5 to 9, Saturdays are typically for family and friends but it’s just something about Sundays that SCREAMS intentionality and self-care. Honestly, I’m so serious about my Sunday routine that all of my loved ones know that majority of Sunday, I’m off the grid. Here’s why:
Why you need a reset..
I need at least one day of the week to sit back and reflect on my strengths and challenges from the previous week, the pressure I want to apply for the upcoming week and what I need to do to prepare for success. To be honest, that’s the true Sunday reset meaning, preparing for success for the week ahead. I know sis, you’re probably thinking ” Who wants to spend the last day of the weekend, thinking about the next work week?” Well, that’s just it, a reset is more than just preparing for the workweek. It prepares you to show up for yourself AS your best self.
When in doubt, make it a challenge
I look at my Sunday reset as a challenge. See, typically Sunday nights are filled with reality tv, wine, a good meal and some much needed alone time. However, I like to indulge in my reality Sundays only after all of my work around the house is complete. So it becomes a game for me, I’m racing the clock while being productive. You know that feeling you get when you open the microwave before the timer hits zero?! Yeah, thats what your Sunday reset could be like.
Creating a routine that makes sense
Creating a reset is super simple. All you have to do is think about what could’ve made the previous week go smoother and do it. Didn’t have time to workout because you had to stay late at work? Write in your planner how you can manage time better this week and practice being more flexible. Couldn’t shoot content because you didn’t have a clean home to be your blank canvas? Set up your phone and do a time lapse of you tidying up the place. You can also find tons of Sunday reset tiktoks here.
Call it what you want
You don’t have to do 10,000 things on your to-do list to make it work. You just have to do something positive and productive to make your life easier the next day. Self Care is proactive, it shouldn’t be reactive. Take care of yourself, sis! You’re probably already doing it, you just call it one of the infamous Sunday reset quotes “getting ready for work”.
What do you do on a reset day? How do you prepare for a new day/week? Do you have a Sunday reset checklist?
