Can you believe it’s almost March already? January is always the slowest month, then here comes February speeding things up and before you know it, it’s December again. I heard it all the time as a kid but time flies! Which makes it hard to hold on to the excitement of the new year after that January 31st cut-off. However, I have a trick that will make each season feel like a fresh start. Self-care in the form of SPRING CLEANING!
Yes, you read that right. I clean for self-care. I know, I know, it sounds pretty far-fetched. How can so much work alleviate stress and motivate you to keep going? It’s simple, the feeling I get when I light that candle at the end of my cleaning session is like waving my flag. I’m surrendering and laying my stressors out for the universe to battle. It’s no longer my weight to carry. Honestly, it’s a new beginning no matter what time of year it is.
It wasn’t until I moved into my own apartment that I began to appreciate the symmetry in the vacuum lines. The gratification of streak-free glass on the coffee table. The polished surfaces after disinfecting and dusting. It’s such a vibe! You can’t help but be proud afterward. Coming home after a long day of work/ running errands to a clear, organized space is a top-tier feeling. Not to mention it makes you feel invincible
To slow down the transition from February to March, I did a lot of purging of junk and got rid of clothes I haven’t worn in ages. I color-coded my bedroom closets and organized my linen closet. I deep cleaned my carpets and mopped my floors until they started to sparkle. There’s nothing like a fresh start and I found the perfect way to make each day a new beginning.
I honestly don’t know who I’ve become in adulthood, but the satisfaction I get after cleaning my living space is a high that I’m forever chasing. What do you do to get a fresh start? Do you consider cleaning self-care? Do you purge and organize by the season, by the month, or once a year?

I clean to de-stress! Cleaning is therapeutic for me. I also love to read but my eyesight is getting bad, so I turn on my kindle and start cleaning!
